Overview

This IDC Manufacturing Insights Perspective is a companion to Perspective: The State of Collaboration in the Brand-Oriented Value Chain (IDC Manufacturing Insights #MI239086, January 2013) — which offers a look at collaboration between retailers and CP manufacturers through the economic lens — and Perspective: Improving Collaboration with Big Data, Mobile, and Social in the Brand-Oriented Value Chain (IDC Manufacturing Insights #MI239210, forthcoming). This Perspective presents our view of the current state of collaboration between consumer products (CP) manufacturers and retailers, focusing on some of the areas where we see the greatest inflection points for collaboration among retailers and CP manufacturers. These include a focus on product quality by CP manufacturers and the desire for retailers and manufacturers alike to optimize sourcing and logistics.
