Overview

This IDC study discusses how the present economic situation is forcing manufacturers to reassess their business strategies, processes, and practices, with the need to position their businesses to take advantage of the expected economic upturn. Operations must support the business strategy, and to compete successfully, manufacturers should focus on Operational Excellence. This research document not only describes the operational strategies that manufacturers are currently adopting, but also recommends strategies that manufacturers should deploy in the near future. Lastly, this report discusses the role of IT for achieving Operational Excellence. The study is based on the result of an Europeanwide survey that IDC Manufacturing Insights conducted in conjunction with Manufacturing Executive Magazine.
